Get Involved
Community involvement is an important part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) encourages members of the community, elected officials, organizations, agencies, and other interested stakeholders to participate in the EIS process by reviewing project information, attending a public meeting, and submitting comments during the scoping period. Comments received during the scoping period will help identify issues, concerns, and potential alternatives that will be considered during preparation of the Draft EIS. Additional opportunities for public participation will be available when the Draft EIS is published for public review and comment.
Public Scoping
Public scoping is an early and open process for identifying issues and alternatives to be addressed in an EIS and determining who is interested in the Proposed Action. The scoping period begins with publication of a Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Register stating an agency’s intent to prepare an EIS.
The scoping period for the EIS for Training and Exercises at Airfields in the CNMI is from [date] through [date]. As part of the scoping process, the DAF will hold three public scoping meetings. The purpose of these meetings is to provide the public and interested stakeholders with information about the Proposed Action and an opportunity to submit comments that will help inform the preparation of the Draft EIS. Public scoping meetings will be conducted in an open house format and the same information will be available at all three meetings. The meetings will be held at the following dates, locations, and times:
